Lalaland--Teaser#3

The White Raven--lalaland by ~freakdearts on deviantART

The Vagabond Scrawler's weapon of choice...

I kinda modeled it off a revolver but with no dependence on bullets because it gains it's energy from his stones[link] and discharges it in orbs... or something like that

I like the little bird symbol...

done in my little four by six sketchbook...

Lalaland--Teaser#2

Fey Linn-- Lalaland by ~freakdearts on deviantART

The Messenger

The book she holds is a sketch book that created a world and took her to it...

yah yah yah... she's got her hands in bandages because she fell and cut them... not too badly but it makes her feel better... like a bandaid :D

she's a little headstrong and rebellious at times but she tries to be a good girl... even when she's out exploring other people's worlds :D

done in my little four by six sketch book, mostly just to visualize the character for writing...

Lalaland--Teaser #1

Vagabond Scrawler--Lalaland by ~freakdearts on deviantART

"if your eyes are fine then why do you cover them"

"Because... it hurts too much to open them..."

They call him The Vagabond Scrawler, but his real name is Wren Melbourne... one of the main characters in that short story that I plan to finish...someday

anyway those things hanging off his coat are large clear stones... they alight when he fires his weapon: the White Raven [link]

his hair is supposed to be curly, but like he's got egg run through it in dreads and such

I like the corner graphics

done in my little four by six sketch book, mostly just to visualize the character for writing...

My Boat is So Little

My boat is so little, the ocean so wide
and sometimes the winds loudly roar
but God and His angels are close by my side
they'll steer my boat safely to shore

though winds blow so fiercely i won't fear the storm
for angels are holding my hand
with their arms around me I'm safe and warm
on the way to God's heavenly land

If I close my eyes and then go right to sleep
I'll make the night go quickly by
in the morning when I will open my eyes
the daylight will shine with a smile

so snuggled securely in my little boat
I'll sail through the night in my dreams
my guardian angels will bless me with peace
and make the sea sparkle and gleam
---
"I sail by the full moon on an ocean of sleep, to what I know not but I will embrace it joyfully"
---
song is 'My boat is so little' from siesta street... quote is from my "book"...( I know theres no moon but you get the picture)

:DI went through all the trouble of painting this because I have many memories of this song, and loved it... it was one of those that always put me to sleep... when I listen to it now I get all nostalgic and pretty much this same image flashes through my head... so yeah, you could say I couldn't help myself

and look, I didn't do this for anyone! yay!

I hate rigging... but the lighting was fun, so were the star clouds... a little too bright maybe, but who cares...it looks pretty!

I was kind of going for a look like hold me in your heart where it's all soft, blurry and dreamy to go along with the song... I also kind of wanted it to have an elvish slight, sort of like the effect in LOTR...I think I might of overdone it a bit and made it too busy but then again this is mainly just something to do between commissions to keep me sane...

Art-ness

while putting up my gallery on DA I've noticed several trends...

first is that a majority of my work has been for other people... mostly as birthday gifts
I feel this shows that, either my allowance is too small, or I find it hard to make an excuse to do things for myself since it requires a large amount of time to produce my peices and if there is no outside motivation I will generally lose interest...

second is that over a third of my work has been inspired or otherwise done for music...
I feel this shows that, music inspires me, perhaps more than anything(at least the lyrics do)... and I find it hard to make the division between the two art forms:D

third is that most of my figures, whether standing or reclining, face to the left and are aligned on the right...
I feel this is because has something to do with my hand preference as it's much easier to draw something closer to your drawing hand than something that is away from it, and I'm usually too lazy to break the habit...

these aren't necessarily bad patterns just things that I've noticed... I could go on happily with these not even noticing it but one of the best ways to grow is to break out of previous ruts and try something new... so that's what I think I'll do... I hope this year to be able to break a few of these trends at least once, just to see what happens... I hope you'll like the results as much as I might...

I also think I need to draw Jesus more...

I hope you all had a great time on single's awareness day, even though I know I can't call it that... :D <3

I think I'll have soup today...
