Just some Japanese thoughts...

I would like to go to Japan but, you know what, I can't.

And I don't actually need to and I don't want to either for two reasons... for one because I don't think I could stand another flight with my ears still in their loopy condition and two because I don't want to get even more sick than I already am... what with all the radioactivity and the fact I just got out of the hospital after a personal disaster myself I don't think I'm ready to visit a disaster site if you know what I mean...

it's just something I'll have to accept...

But, you know what, I don't have to go either... for one thing I have faith in the Japanese people; that they'll be able to take care of their second nuclear disaster in a most dignified manner and also that they'll do it in a manner that the international will be able to respect... it is a strong country, one that's been getting along fine for the past fifteen odd centuries it's been around... :D which is something that anyone who's ever read about it would understand... but also after my own disaster I understand that I can't do it all on my own... the recovery is mine, but it's only mine to do... also I'm never alone as long as there's family around to feed and clothe me I'll be alright...

And there will always be Anime...That will never die....

noooo

I swear I'm not closing up on you all it's just it's of course been very hard to keep writing while writing for school as well, if you catch my drift. I really wish that I could update more frequently but when you're also doing home work til two o'clock in the morning it's quite hard to follow through with something that may be fun... and I have been working enough that it's put me out of commission for three whole days and still coughing... I'm not sure if it's a good thing for me to already be pushing my body to a limit already ... it's only been six weeks since term started... anyway, it's not like I don't have art... my typography teacher has a bet with us of sorts that he won't get one extra credit sketch book journal from any of his students this year... I probably won't need to submit it as design isn't really a hard thing for me although this is of a typographic nature, but the required minimum of 5 minutes a day of actual drawing it is a good motivation to get me actually sketching again... and we're coming up with some lovely designs for Lalaland... I might actually post somethings from there but then again that would mean taking time away from homework to scan and upload them so it may not happen at all, just like me actually finishing posting these character sheets won't either...

ARRRRGHH

Sometimes I swear technology has sentience... a spiteful sentience...

I had just bought an external hard drive to save my overstuffed internal one on my ailing PC, when the graphics card killed itself... in my presence. I had just started it up and sat down when my screen was splayed across with something like this:
Of course I was kind of expecting something like this, my computer had been flagging all of last semester and this close to the next one it was practically asking for it... but just the week before? really? well luckily it was 3 years ago that my machine was built so an upgrade will put in hardware that is discounted by now so it should only be about a week until its back up and working, still, that's annoying... and creepy... gads! first bouncers and now this; term can't start any sooner!

strange dreams...

this morning when I hit the snooze button on my alarm I dreamt most vividly that I had 12 messages on deviant art... twelve! how can I remember that? and they were all either replies or comments... I remember one was slightly inflammatory and had something to do with the lines I used for my shading?... I think da has had too much of an impact on me to the point that I'm on it in my sleep... somehow that doesn't seem right... it was so vivid *shivers*

slight side point: tomorrow I start ballroom dancing lessons:D no, not waltz or foxtrot you twit! but salsa meringue or samba! a friend of my mother's is an instructor at a dance therapy workshop downtown and I was press-ganged into it, not that I'm resentful oh no I can't wait to get out of here and learn some moves or whether I've been doing it wrong all along... which I have most likely... I love to dance especially Latin I guess there's just something in the beats...having lived three years in mexico you'd think I'd pick something up by osmosis wouldn't you... but umm... well lets just say it's best if I don't get up if they play... it is still something I need to puzzle out for sure like a piece of tamarindo to get out of its shell:XD:

adios muchachos!

SCHOOOOLS OUT FOREVAH!!!

or at least for as long as I can tell...

yes that is right congratulate me for I have just finished entirely my highschool acedemic work which as far as I can tell means I HAVE GRADUATED!!! Yeah, I'm wearing my spanky pants! :iconimhappiestplz: can you tell? that means this is a real special occasion cause I only save those for extra special occasions... *hem* don't worry they're just underwear, but besides that I also needed an excuse to restart the blog and this seems like as good as any since I am now a man!! now I'll go forth and conquer with the power of youth!:icongaiplz: NVRM that's still not right... pardon I've watched a bit too much of naruto for my own good....

no seriously I have so much time now I'm not too sure what to do with it... and there seems like theres always too much to get done in it... I never realized how stressful it would be not having to do any scholarly activity there's more time for what others need you to do than what you kinda want to do... sigh... still I am quite exuberant and I doubt that it will be dampened in a good while... I'm FREEE!!! I've always wanted to say that...

please standby for a megart upload... and maybe a bit of p-p-p-poetry... ogsh it's good to be back!

It's also beginning to look a lot like christmasss...

New Lives

well as much as I would love to blame my indefinite as of late silence on severe digital trauma(i.e. broken mashed fingers) I must be honest and say that lately I have been very boring and lazy and not very prone to be very internet social... but there are some beginings (and ending depending on how you look on it) that I must report upon so I have hauled up the old compose page just for such...

first is that my brother has been married now for about a week... to a lovely russian girl by the name of michelle... may they find greater love and happiness as they walk their new road together... here is some pictorial evidence of the fact..I have no idea why seeing my brother in a suit is so hilarious... :D Congrats guys!
.

Second: Melody has had her baby... may your life be full of joy and light as you care for another :D congrats love and sorry I haven't been in touch for a while... I'm waiting for some pictures, eh?;)

and thirdly... I'll be off to the fdtp this sunday for some much needed training in what it means to be a disciple, and an adult...hopefully I won't get myself into too much trouble or anyone else for that matter... :D This also means that I will be offline for twenty days as too much internet use is not encouraged, but you can follow the precedings on facebook here: [link] I'm bound to get in there someplace so be on the look out for this face:

woah yes that's right I also got a hair cut!(tx liela)

looking forward to the changes

two things I learned from jetskiing for 6 hours on monday

One: unless you want to get thrown off trying to stay on, lean into your turns...

and Two: unless you want to turn into a lobster put on a pound and a half of sunscreen!

My feet are still swelling from going from white to beet two days afterward...

district 9 is an awesome movie very complex with a great focus on the main character's character above all else...(I was rather impressed by his freindly exterior but harder underlying personality, slightly creepy too)special effects of course were very well done especially for the way it was shot... wish they could of done something a bit better with the ending though...kind of inconclusive... the whole thing raises interesting questions not really about racism but about how everything changes when something alien is introduced... especially something that is a burden and even potentially dangerous... it gives a whole new aspect to it as a good movie should...

It's the dog days of august....

And I haven't even gotten in a pool this year... that has to be a bad sign...

what is up?

The opposite of down?

sorry for the lack of updates... I seem to have gotten lost on the path of life...

well, it seems like I've finally gone out and found myself another anime to watch... Naruto, BELIEVE IT!!!

although it was a little difficult to get into at first I have to say that I'm really seeing why it's so popular... it's totally hilarious and awesome and thoroughly enthralling... what I really like about it is that it's so focused on character... you can really see the way that each character grows and progresses throughout, it's not just about the action although that's incredibly cool, but it's about the problems and challenges that each person faces and how they overcome them...you are there with them sharing their experiences and emotions, it gets you involved...and the comedy is just so foolish it's priceless... like seriously I laughed myself to tears this one episode, but I think that it's mostly based on the relationships between different characters and how they interact and react, plus the characters themselves are pretty humorous too...

the only problem that I think I have with it is the pacing... it takes forever to finish a story line... like seriously a single fight could take three whole episodes... that's an hour! I can quite literally watch it and work on something in the next window, because it's usually a monologue or flashback or just changing viewpoints... but I guess that's what makes it so easy to watch and so addicting it always keeps you guessing... like seriously there will be this huge important long sequence and poof! jutsu smoke and then end of the episode and you're just like... WHA...

sigh looks like I've also found another game to sap my time with... this one an nifty little rpg, one which I discovered while I was in mexico at the fresh age of 12... and I just found out that it's one of the earliest ones made by square enix(or squaresoft back then) no wonder I was so drawn to it. I Wonder how long it will last this time...

I think I'm coming down with an aircon cold... but I will try to post my recent artistic capers tomorrow at least...

cheers!

memage

its time for... FAMILY FUN!!! (dududududadadadaadududaduuuuh!)

no really I want to know more about whoever it is that reads my blog... I know you do... all those hits down at my clustrmap aren't me checking to see if I have any hits... so yeah:

this is a little something from deviant art that I got from mikou if you want to know what it means by watch it means that you basically follow someone... as in you get updates whenever they post new art... sometimes it's rather annoying really...

"YOU WATCH ME. I want to know 28 things about you. I don't care if we've never talked, never really clicked, or if we already know everything about each other. Let me know with whom I'm friends with!"

1. Your Name:
2. Age:
3. Single or Taken:
4. Favourite Film:
5. Favourite Song or Album:
6. Favourite Band/Artist:
7. Dirty or Clean:
8. Tattoos and/or Piercings:
9. boxers or briefs?:
10. What's your philosophy on life?
11. Is the bottle half-full or half-empty?
12. Would you keep a secret from me if you thought it was in my best interest?
13. What is your favourite memory of us?
14. What is your favourite guilty pleasure?
15. Tell me one odd/interesting fact about you:
16. You can have three wishes (for yourself, so forget all the 'world peace etc' malarkey) - what are they?
17. Can we get together and make a cake?
18. Which country is your spiritual home?
19. What is your big weakness?
20. Do you think I'm a good person?
21. What was your best/favourite subject at school?
22. Describe your accent:

24. What do you wear to sleep?
25. Trousers or skirts?
26. Cigarettes or alcohol?
27. If I only had one day to live, what would we do together?
28. Will you repost this so I can fill it out for you?

you don't really have to do this if you seriously don't want to... but I'm just slightly curious...

Have fun !

Miscellaneous Art Dump

before we start this exposition there's something important that needs to be said...

my niece Gabrielle is back! AAUGGHH!!!

well it's actually not that bad... I've only got her for the morning until three and then joy has her for the rest of the day... still she does have a nice tendency to get in one's hair! don't EXPECT pictures even if I say I'll post them if I can... :D

---
First we start with a portrait of my dad

Gandalf with Glasses--My Dad by ~freakdearts on deviantART

this is a bit of an informal tribute/gift that I did for his sixtieth birthday last month... it was difficult because I knew that he would be a bit nervous about sitting for me and so I had to steal little snapshot sketches throughout the day and composite them into something like this...:D

I chose to portray him as a sort of Gandalf, because he is a great lover of the books and because my first introduction to them (beyond the movies) was when he would read them to us before we went to bed... I remember that I would almost always fall asleep to his low droning voice and so it was only appropriate that I did something like this... also I kind of liek to think of him in that way and I'm sure he sort of does to...

no his beard is not that long in fact he doesn't have much of a beard at all and I know that gandalf doesn't wear glasses but my dad wouldn't be my dad without them and neither would gandalf be himself with out his beard, so I think that justifies my splicing! beyond the fact that it is his sixtieth birthday!

still don't think I got the hat right... my mother said that he could work as either a pirate or santa claus... but I'm tired of fiddling with it and I need to give it to him...:D

---

unlocked--xn teaser by ~freakdearts on deviantART

a teaser panel from my fourth piece of work for the xn this one consists of two pages, but I think I'll only post one cause I'm not too sure I like the other one...

this one was a pain... so many paths and details, I went too far on the chest... it wasn't easy to color in the time I had after the lineart was done... which was like a week... but I managed...

I especially like the little crystal up in the right corner and the ring in the left, though...

---

Elementals--Air--WIP by ~freakdearts on deviantART

quite a likable fellow really...

well I figured I should break the suspense on the development of this one... I have not been able to work on it in a while due to various other constraints on my time and attention but such as it is here is a preview of it... I may take it up again with the break but my bear needs completion before the twentieth... colored pencils are nice...

it's still quite messy and irregular but were getting there...

what I like about this type of shading is that you don't have to worry about gradients you can just block it in and that's final! no more mucking about with the eye dropper tool and opacity... maybe I should do my comics like this...

---

Nathalie called me on saturday for my birthday... we couldn't really talk for long cause I had to head out to do a spiderman party, but it was nice to know I am loved... I really have to write that woman there is much we have to talk about...

I hate chemistry! and here I was thinking I was done with math!!!

Annual Musings.... no. 18 to be precise

It is with slight reluctance and regret that I stand on the threshold of my adulthood(in other words I'm turning eighteen, and I'm not so sure if it's such a great career move)

regret not really because my years of sentient adolescence were bad, but that they weren't... better. Doubtless I have learned everything I must from them and I do not begrudge that, but they most certainly could of been I am sure. Certainly more eventful and less tedious and with a bit more adventure in them (perhaps concerning a parallel world) than that of simply getting daily out of bed. But being the time stamping being I am I can not do anything about it nor change the fact that they were just normal years... well lived though they may have seemed at the time...

Reluctance one could say because I don't really think that it's a good idea to go about thrusting myself upon society at large, nor does prying myself from the cushioned stupor of adolescence look very gratifying either. But life as we all (should) know doesn't care about what I think(nor any one else for that matter) and I'm sure eventually I will be able to accept the fact that it plods along like a great clockwork elephant. and I will be dragged through the last second of the tenth of june(or have been by the time you're reading this) and will most exasperatingly be eighteen

sad... but true...

Still there is a sort of thrill to be found sitting on the precipice dangling my toes(or having dropt off of it) the future and all it's dim possiblilties stretching out before me like a sheet of endless paper... Lord knows That I am good with paper...
Still I rather like sitting here with the future, almost expectant, not quite because that would only spoil the small peace to be found in it( or lost really depending on when you're reading this)

so much blank space... So much Silence to break... The future is so nice bright and clean... what will we do with it?

So, I'll slit my gills and face full stream
Lest I be found to dance with the jellyfish queen...

paintballed

the brief:

I got shot a total of 7 times although four of them were in a single game and hit two people for all my trouble... although I think that all the times I kept someone under cover could be counted as assists... not too bad a beating this time: only two major welts the size of quarters as compared to last time's four... I think that I might have done better if I had been a bit bolder and daring... pretty much the way I survive is a considerable amount of talent at keeping my head down... of course this limits my offensive abilities and lets the other person shoot his own terms so to speak... I think that next time I won't so worried about saving my own neck and in sted be worried about cutting the other guy's, or something to that effect...

I like to anime run!

ASDF

asdf... yeah that's pretty much what's been going on in my head lately... and my fingers...for some reason I've been taking typing for school. I've pretty much ascertained that I suck... no really I know you can't tell but my wpm is like 25... and that's counting symbol keys... of course I've been at it for only a week but still... I'm fine with lower case it's the capitols number and symbols that are getting to me... I mean it is incredible frustrating to type # instead of +... savy? sigh I guess I shouldn't expect too much of myself starting out...

I think I might post an epic of sorts that I had for a school assignment... I just need to go over it for one final time... but to whet your appitite it constitutes of a vision of sorts I had while listening to "anthem" by shuns cheap music :D with candles and swirly stuff :D... what? if you listen to it you'll understand it just has that "whooosh with me" feeling to it... still it made me cry really when I first saw it, it was so beautiful...sigh ;D no really, I like saw it like a movie on my eyelids... very vivid... it would make a great animation if I was an animator...

comics are coming along... I got the sports one back for finalization, and just barely finished the meditation sketch before the deadline... sigh and I was so hoping to get something more 'epic'...

oh, and I've decided to enter the "Bring Your Vision to Life" contest hosted by wacom on deviantart! yeah, yeah I know I probably haven't got much of a shot at that intous 4 tablet considering the talent that that site chock full... but I can dream right? I mean I've got at least three chances of getting one... and if I don't get nothing then at least I created a great image no? it's great theme... good against evil... lord know I've got something to say about it...something not too subtle ;)

wish me luck

Lalaland--Teaser#4

just a little something from that infernal short story...

---

"I guess the best way to explain is to start at the beginning; then you might see what I am and what it is I must do. Let me tell you a story:

"There once was a boy who loved to draw. He loved it so much that he drew himself a world on paper; surrounding himself with it. This world came to life to him within the pages of his sketch book. Many things he placed within it; there was light then and it filled all the drawings in channeled brilliancy, and there was shade too, but no darkness... no, that doesn’t come until later. and then he drew a door, a door that would change his world forever.

"No one knows how it happened but this door opened and he entered his world. The first to greet him were two emissary of light: an elven Lord and Lady. They were the first he had drawn in the book. They told him that they had been sent to guide him in his reign and to show him how to use rightly this gift that he had been given. And so under their tutelage and wisdom he ruled his world with a benevolent hand. Each of his creations had their own existence and spoke and thought and felt just like me and you. Our boy tried his best and though he may have made a few mistakes the ‘people’ loved and respected him because it was through him that they had been brought into existence. Times were good then… too good

"Then one fateful day an emissary of darkness was found and brought before the Boy. The ambassador stood before him in all its menace black and hateful and it made him an offer. The darkness would give him great power and might in return for the book that had formed this world. Naturally the boy refused and had the emissary destroyed. But by then it was too late. For the darkness had cast a spell over him. He was obsessed with it from his first taste and he ceased to heed the counsel of the light. The seeds had been planted and he locked himself in his chambers unable to rid himself of the image of the emissary’s dark form. It haunted him,” at this point he hesitated, something bothered him like he hadn’t made his piece, then he went on.

“That night the darkness came. It was strong and terrible and it tried to take the book by force, but the boy resisted it. It tried to take his life but at the moment before it could the lady of light appeared and sacrificing herself, saved the boy by weakening the darkness greatly. But again it grew. The lord stood and fought it giving the boy time to run. But when he too fell the darkness pursued the boy taking hold of everything that he had held dear and turning it against him. But no matter how much it took it could never find him.

“The land was changed. Where once had been peaceful vales and streams now were only ashes and mud for in its passing the darkness took all life from these and twisted them. And the book? The book was lost… the boy accidently dropped it in a pool in his haste, but though the darkness drained it, it was never found… until now.

“For you see Fay, I am ‘WM,’ or rather Wren Melbourne, and that is my sketchbook, and this terrible thing is happening to my world...”

dum da dum da! I still do intend to finish this...

nothing of any grave importance

I'm sick and tired of playing in the dirt... no really for the last two days I've been shoveling out asparagus beds and planting them for my mother... they each had to be a foot deep and foot wide there's three of them that run twelve feet each...on the second day it started to rain and be very cold...and with our dirt it means it gets rather clumpy and sticks to your shoes and hands like a second pair of boots... then, I also had to pile up the dirt and lay the asparagus roots over the mounds that have to be exactly a foot apart and cover them entirely back up again... I used my hands cause the shovel didn't fit in the trenches... I know this isn't really that much but try doing it in the clammy cold and mud and then talk to me... I actually have no idea why I'm ranting about my gardening in such detail... I really do love green growing things... I just don't like having to dig the holes to plant them :D so yeah I'm pretty hateful of my shovel now...

been working on essays for my school... need to finish ten so I can get credit... it's good practice I guess... I'm pretty stuck with this one I need to do on Nathaniel Hawthorne... ausome writer, just really boring life... although it may be interesting to note that when he was sixteen, while away at boarding school, he sent his family seven issues of a hand written newspaper containing news poems and essays entitled the spectator such a thing could be comparable to a blog no?

oh, and in other, minor news... I CUT MY HAIR!!! AGHH!!! will post pics as soon as they are taken... if I can get the time...
